Hair Balls in the Sewing Studio !
Roger cleaned the castors on my "studio sewing chair" and this was the disgusting abundant result....
Cough, Cough, Cough, Blech!
All that thread slowing down my chair really did feel like tangled hair balls!
...not that I have ever personally experienced a hair ball (and you'll just have to take my word on this).
Ooooooh my chair "feels" so much better! Now I can easily roll on over and continue to write and photograph the "Shirt Pattern-Drafting Finesse" TUTORIAL that I have been preparing for you :) Here's a hint--

Does he have any tricks for getting up into the casters. I can't seem to get enough off my chair to make much of a difference.
OK, well 2 hours later I got the thread off my chair too and I can't believe how much better it rolls. Needle nose pliers did the trick, along with an exacto knife.
Ooo, I can't wait!
My DH does my chair and the vacuum now and then, cursing all the while. I try to do it myself before he gets the bright idea. I don't like to hear the cursing.
Yowza! I can't believe the casters ate up that much thread!

Sherril and Bunny...he used a utility knife, needle-nosed pliers...and there was some swearing when he cut his finger! (he's fine,thank-goodness...and I am very appreciative)
Hi Shannon...it's really rather embarrassing how much thread was wrapped around those castors!
I maintain my machines much better than I do my chairs...much, much, better :)
oh my - been there done that!!! I used my paper scissors, my little pinchy thingy and a knife and anything I could figure out. I had blisters on my fingers when I was done. And I guess now that you mention it, it's probably time to do it again, before it gets out of control and takes an entire day! ;/
But I have to say, I don't feel so bad now, knowing it's a common thing! I really thought I was the only one that happened to :)
This is what my vacuum looks like after I clean it out from around the brush.I'm like Bunny, I try to beat my husband to the job, or else I'll hear about it. :)
We won't even talk about the sewing chairs on my job and how the casters look, ugh!!
That bale of threads remind me of my cat's fur balls. Now I have to do a castor check, because my yorkie finds it tasty to lick the threads from my chair wheels.. umm yeah.
We just did this on all three chairs in our studio. It was pretty terrifying...and very tempting to make a small plushie stuffed with threadballs
I get the same thing when I clean the roller on the vacuum cleaner.

Just so you know, I found your blog from Gorgeous Fabrics and Anne's rant about the lack of advanced sewing techniques (January 17th or 18th, 2012). Thank goodness! And thank you!
I can't wait to see the tutorial. I just bought David Coffin's Shirtmaking book (DH is 6'4" with a 37" sleeve length - he needs a custom made shirt don't cha think?!!)
I can not wait for the tutorial.
